Most online stores we see in consultancy share the same problem: they were built like a corporate site with a cart plugin bolted on top. But ecommerce is a sales operating system — payment gateway, stock management, taxation, shipping, returns, marketing automation, cart recovery, multi-currency support, accounting integration. Skipping any of these layers gets paid in lost orders every month.

At Gecko Studio we have been launching online stores for tourism, hospitality, retail, gourmet food and B2B clients since 2017. We know which architecture survives a Black Friday spike, which templates convert at 3% and which at 0.4%, which ERP integration saves 20 hours a week and which one creates chaos.

Every proposal starts by understanding your business — not by showing you templates. We recommend the platform that fits your volume, your team and your strategy, not the one that pays us the highest commission. Recommended for medium catalogues

The most flexible option if you already run WordPress. Full SEO control, no per-sale commission and thousands of plugins. Ideal for medium catalogues (50-2,000 products) and businesses that need real customisation.

Shopify

Recommended for dropshipping & D2C

Cloud platform ready to start selling in under 4 weeks. Low maintenance, native integrations with marketplaces and excellent for international expansion. Monthly fee + per-sale commission depending on the plan.

PrestaShop

Recommended for physical retail

Open source with modules built for stores with many product variants (size, colour, material). A solid choice for brick-and-mortar retail opening an online channel that needs advanced stock management.

We have no exclusive partnership with anyone. If your case fits Shopify, we recommend Shopify. If it fits Woo, we recommend Woo. This should be obvious, but most agencies sell whatever pays them more.

Technical SEO from the code itself

We do not design first and then "add SEO". Architecture, URLs, schema and performance are designed from the wireframe. It makes a huge difference in the first 12 months.

Real integrations, not pretty ones

If your ERP is Odoo, Holded, Sage or A3, we have integrated. If your gateway is Redsys, Stripe, PayPal or Bizum, we have set it up. We do not experiment on you.

How much does a professional online store cost?
A working basic ecommerce on WooCommerce or Shopify starts at around €3,500-5,000. A store with a wide catalogue (500+ products), complex variants and ERP connection can range €8,000-18,000. Custom-built or B2B stores with specific developments: closed quote after consultancy. In every case, no per-sale commission and full code ownership.
Which platform should I choose between WooCommerce, Shopify and PrestaShop?
It depends on your model. WooCommerce is the most flexible option if you value SEO and full control. Shopify is the fastest to launch and the lowest maintenance, but you pay per-sale commission. PrestaShop fits retail with many variants. In the first meeting we analyse your specific case and give you an honest recommendation — we do not sell what you do not need.
How long does it take to have an online store ready?
For a Shopify or WooCommerce store with a customised professional template: 4-6 weeks. For tailored UX/UI design and complex catalogue: 8-12 weeks. B2B stores with ERP integrations or custom development: 12-16 weeks. We give you a detailed calendar in the initial proposal, with measurable weekly milestones.
Do you handle migrations without losing Google rankings?
Yes — it is one of the things we do best. We audit your current site with Ahrefs and Search Console, map every old URL to the new one with server-side 301 redirects, and monitor positions for 8 weeks after launch. A well-executed migration should not cause a traffic drop greater than 5% (and recovers in 4-8 weeks).
Will my store rank well on Google from launch?
Technical SEO comes by default: clean structure, Product/Offer schema markup, hreflang if you sell in several languages, dynamic sitemap, optimised Core Web Vitals and mobile speed. What is not included: content SEO. If you want to rank for competitive keywords, you need a monthly editorial plan afterwards — we can propose that as a separate service.
Do you integrate the store with my ERP or in-house system?
We work with Odoo, Holded, Sage, A3, SAP Business One and custom developments. We sync stock, products, prices and orders in real time or in batches as appropriate. If your ERP has no standard API, we evaluate cost and integration feasibility during the initial consultancy.
What about maintenance after launch?
We offer a monthly maintenance plan that includes platform and plugin updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security patches and incident support. It is not mandatory, but without it a WordPress store usually has problems within 6-12 months. From €90/month.
Do you work with clients outside Ibiza?
Yes. The studio is in Ibiza, but 70% of our ecommerce clients are in mainland Spain — Madrid, Barcelona — and the Balearics. Video meetings and Slack/email coordination work just as well as sharing an office. For larger projects we travel for the kickoff.
