Request a proposalPeople often expect social media to lift their Google rankings, and then feel cheated when it does not. It is worth being precise about what actually carries over between the two, because some of it does.
What does not: links from social posts do not pass ranking authority. They are marked in a way that tells search engines not to count them as a vote, so no amount of posting will move a page up the results on its own. Followers are not a ranking factor either.
What does, indirectly but measurably:
The practical consequence is about measurement. Judging social by the traffic it sends to your website will almost always make it look like a failure, because most of its effect arrives later and under a different label. Track branded search volume and listing actions alongside the usual metrics, and the picture stops being unfair in both directions.
